Unusual & Unique Places to Stay in Tanzania
Tanzania's unusual stays divide between the bush and the sea: tented camps and treehouse lodges in and around the national parks of the north, and on the islands off the coast, rooms that open onto the Indian Ocean, including a floating room off Pemba whose bedroom sits below the surface.
The catch is cost and access. Safari lodging is usually priced per person with meals, game drives and park fees included, so it looks expensive beside a hotel room, and many camps are reached by light aircraft that limit luggage to a soft bag. The long rains, roughly March to May, close some camps, and what an underwater window shows depends on the water that day.
Underwater
What's the catch? The underwater view is often a single window, and it's a premium price.
