Suites in a harbour crane, 50m up
Three two-level suites stacked inside a monumental shipyard crane on Amsterdam's NDSM wharf — the Free Spirit at 35 metres, the hidden Secret Suite at 40, the Mystique at 45 — each a private world above the IJ, with a music studio for 85 guests halfway up the mast. The crane still turns slowly in the wind, so the skyline literally rotates around you. The catch: Now run as a private venue: stays are by request and invitation only, and a swaying crane reached by lift and steep stairs is no place for vertigo or limited mobility.
