Sleep in a converted train carriage, a grounded aircraft, a boat, a crane cab or a warehouse that used to hold cargo. Every conversion here is one we confirmed is still trading, because this is the category where a one-of-a-kind stay is most likely to have quietly stopped.

A conversion counts when the original thing is still legible — the fuselage, the rolling stock, the rivets, the loading doors. A new-build hotel with railway wallpaper is a theme, not a conversion, and belongs on a different page.

Space is the trade you make. Quarters are shaped by whatever the vehicle was, so beds tuck into curves, bathrooms are compact and headroom is a real consideration. Heritage buildings bring their own quirks: thick walls, sound that travels, and stairs where a lift would be.

These are the most fragile listings we keep. A single carriage or a lone crane is often run by one or two people, and when they stop, no press release goes out. The rolling re-check exists for exactly this.
